Biography
After getting my degree in economics, I wanted to travel to places unknown to me. Fortunately I had the luck to do so for a couple of years. Having seen extraordinary things, I wanted to share that with others. Not so much showing nice holiday destinations, more interesting to me, the lives of people and by what events they were affected.
In 2003 I started studying photojournalism and documentary photography at the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam, which I succesfully finished in 2006. An internship at ANP (Dutch Press Agency) followed.
Work
Currently I am working freelance, both in the Netherlands as abroad.
Amongst my regular clients are: Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau (ANP), Geassocieerde Pers Diensten (GPD), Associated Press (AP), Dutch ministry of development cooperation, Dutch ministry of foreign affairs, National Geographic Magazine, Elsevier.
Special intrest
Over the years I have grown a special interest in female emancipation. Especially regarding women in fragile environments. With my pictures I try to capture their flexibility and willpower to make positive changes in their lives. Through my images I hope I can raise awareness for their too often difficult situation.
